Where should I drive on Mexico’s Pacific coast?

Puerto Vallarta is a good place to spend a couple of days, then you can drive up to Sayulita and San Pancho, and keep San Blas in mind if you feel like going farther north. I’d sort out the car before building the whole route around specific towns. Once you know where you’re picking it up and dropping it off, it’s much easier to decide how far along the coast you actually want to go.
